Crazy weird fun day today!
I met a friend at the gym since it was bring-a-friend Thursday. It was nice to have a buddy for once (not that the people at the gym aren’t nice), and we had a fun time
.
The first 20 minutes of the workout was skill work on handstands/handstand push ups. I haven’t ever been able to get up on the wall by myself, and my friend wasn’t so keen on it either. She helped toss my legs up on the wall a couple times, but we really weren’t making any progress. Coach Sara came over and told us to try putting our heads on the ground and doing headstands just to get more comfortable being upside down. It was the best advice ever! It was actually really easy for me to get up in a headstand, although I couldn’t get up in a handstand from there. Progress is progress though!
Today’s WOD:
5 rounds:
200m run
12 pullups – I used a big band
18 box jumps @ 18″
I finished in 14:25, my friend had to modify a little more but she still finished the workout. It was all very chill (we still sweated like crazy) and it was honestly one of my favorite days at Crossfit. There wasn’t any of the over-competitiveness that I hate, and we chatted with some of the women after the workout who are pretty awesome. I wish my schedule wasn’t changing next week so I could keep going to the 8:30am class! I <3 them!
After class I got home and took a nap for a couple hours with the pup. I was still wiped from being at school until 12:45am and not getting to bed until almost 2am.
This afternoon I headed up to the rec and pounded out my 3 miles on the track in the AC. I was still soaked afterwards, so it must have been warmer inside than I thought. I think I ran it in something a little over 24 minutes, which isn't terrible.

My biggest pet peeve with running at the rec is track etiquette. So many people walk straight down the middle of the track right in the way of all the people trying to run. I also dislike the girls (and rarely guys) who sprint past me for half a lap or maybe an entire lap just to prove how fast they are, and then quit. I swear people come to the rec just to run a quarter mile and then go home. It’s ridiculous how many people I saw get on and off the track during my 12 laps.
Oh well. Anyway, I’m headed home now and unless the plan changes I’m going to have a quiet night catching up on cleaning my house (it’s SO BAD) and reading some fun books.
Anyone read anything good lately?
